From the idea to the finished cake — here's everything to know before ordering a bespoke decorative cake: how far in advance, how to choose flavour and design, and what affects the price.
Start with the idea
The best bespoke cakes begin with a clear idea — an occasion, a mood, a favourite colour or theme. You don't need a finished design; a few references and a direction are enough. Platforms like Pinterest and Instagram are a great place to start for inspiration.
Think about the occasion and the person the cake is for. A child's birthday, an anniversary, a corporate event — each one suggests a different style. The more clearly you share your vision, the more precisely we can bring it to life.
Choose the flavour, not just the design
A cake is remembered as much for its taste as its looks. So take time over the choice of filling and sponge. The aim is a balance between your own preferences and flavours most of your guests will enjoy.
Our cakes are built on Belgian chocolate, French cream, fresh eggs and selected fruit — from classic garash and triple chocolate to cheesecake, Sacher and Red Velvet, as well as raw, sugar- and gluten-free desserts. If you have guests with dietary needs, tell us in advance — we'll find a solution.
Size: how big a cake you need
Size depends on the number of guests. It's better to allow a little extra than to run short — especially for festive occasions, where everyone wants a second slice. Share an approximate headcount and we'll recommend a suitable size.
For more elaborate tiered designs, size also affects the structure, so it's good to settle it early in the conversation.
How far in advance to order
Timing is perhaps the most important detail. For birthdays and smaller occasions we recommend ordering at least 1–2 weeks ahead. For more complex decorative projects and busy periods — the earlier, the better.
An early order gives us time to plan the design calmly and reserve the exact ingredients. Last-minute orders aren't always possible, especially for unique projects.
What affects the price
The price of a bespoke cake depends on a few things: size, chosen flavours, design complexity and decoration. An elegant cake with clean lines and a hand-built tiered cake with detailed decorations are different projects.
That's why we don't work from a fixed price list, but with an individual quote. Tell us your idea and your budget and we'll propose the best solution within it.
